I've fallen in with a motley crew of local ex-pat muzungus who refer to themselves collectively as the 'Mengo Hill White Trash'. Hailing originally from Canada, Texas, Holland, and the UK, they are all married to lovely Ugandan women, and have the most beautiful children I have ever seen. One of them, Brent, who runs an NGO here, invited us to his son Adrian's 2nd birthday party on Saturday afternoon.
Most of the guests were middle class Ugandans, many of them relatives of Brent's lovely wife Irene. Aside from the fact that there was no obsessive talk about hockey, this party was exactly the same as the birthday parties we have at home. Thanks for inviting us!
